“When looking for a monitor upgrade after mixing for years on a 3-way system produced by a well-known European brand, I reached the stage where I needed to review and upgrade. I considered the usual high profile, high-performance brands from the UK, Europe and the USA. However, within minutes of auditioning the Grover Notting Code 101 Mastering Series system in my studio alongside pairs from the so called premium brands, the choice was obvious.
The difference was immediately noticeable, hearing incredible detail in the top end, particularly with percussive instruments. I could hear the materials of the instruments, the wood and metal. It was like the aural equivalent of looking through a microscope. The next thing I noticed was difficult to articulate, and I realised it was because it was the first time I’d heard such a thing. The bass was so natural and connected to the sound. Something that doesn’t happen with ported monitors and separate subs.
Having such a great set of monitors allows me to work faster and guess less. My mixes are translating well, my vocals are sitting better…and I’m enjoying my work more than ever”.
